dark mysterious reflective sad

3⭐️. Sadly, no where close to first book. It was a lot of copy and paste but not really. I don’t know, nothing shocking here in the slightest. I almost fell asleep reading a few times. It was fast paced enough but maybe because I also hated the Kimball character in the first book and didn’t feel he needed a second book and didn’t see anything interesting in that character. Liked the Lily parts but even that seemed forced and weird. It just didn’t measure up and in the end, it was a not so great sequel for me.

It’s alright. There just seems to be no mystery or tension. He just lays everything out from all point of view. No twists or turns.
Also, narratively if Henry doesn’t remember what happened then how is he telling this story in the past tense? That’s just a poor authorial decision.
Doesn’t have a patch on the original, ngl

3.5 stars rounded up.

For the most part this was an interesting book, with conniving characters. I wasn’t ever sure what was going to happen next.

I think the part where Kimball figured out the players because of 2 poems was an EXTREME stretch. Also Lily’s character was a puzzler.

Not as good as The Kind Worth Killing, but it’s still good.

This was probably a 3.5 for me. I did enjoy the audiobook but I don’t know it just moved a little slow. Not sure I’ll do the next book. We’ll see
