Wanted to see what all the hype was out. Haven’t watched the show yet because I wanted to read the series first. I have this problem where I don’t watch movies or shows because I want to read the book first, and then I never read the book, which means I never watch the show. I remember we were going to see The Help at the movie theater when I was in middle school, and I made everyone go see Leap Year instead because I wanted to read the book first. (But let’s be real, Leap Year was a great choice, too.) Have I ever read The Help? No. Which means I never ended up seeing the movie.

I was a little disappointed in this book. I loved the setting and the whole summer house thing but:

1.) the writing confused me. I often didn’t know if we were in the past or present.

2.) I see many reviews about how whiny Belly is, but what about those boys? I thought they were awful. Conrad seemed whiny is in his own sense and I thought they were both jerks.

I will continue to read the series to see what happens.

I loved this trilogy! I can't get enough of it. I was so attached to every character, especially Susannah. I do wish Belly's mom had a few chapters about what's been going through her mind, her side of the story.

I'm a sucker for love triangles and this did the job. I usually pick who I liked better between the two, but I simply could not decided (like Belly, lol).

I thought Belly was annoying at first because she cried like A LOT, but she evolved. Though some say her character could be whiny and maybe too emotional, I thought it was honest. When she felt like crying, she cried. As for me, I'd hold it in.

The ending felt a bit abrupt, but I was still happy about the outcome. I, honestly, would not change anything about this trilogy. I think Jenny Han did a pretty good damn job.
