The best origin story of Santa Claus that I've ever read. Rooted in fantasy, this tale has everything to make your heart delight.

Wow, Baum, this could have been told just fine without the anti-indigenous racism. FFS. Parents may want to take a look at pages 167 - 169 (taking special note of the original illustrations accompanying the text) before engaging with their kids on this one.

This book is an unusual genre mix of what feels like both a fairy tale and a biography. It offers an interesting conceptualization of one man's birth, life, and ascension into the role of Santa Claus.

A good, well-written story. But, as is often the case with classics, it felt a bit slow at times and didn't always hold my interest.

A fairy tale about how an abandoned child was raised by nymphs, learned of the world, decided to make toys for children, and was bestowed with immorality. I wanted this to be really cute, but it was just okay.
