So far I have not been impressed by Ngaio Marsh mysteries. I had a hard time keeping track of the people in this one, and could not visualize the solution to the mystery. Offensive treatment of Maori people and artifacts. Though set in a theatre, and making use of stage props, it was lacking in real drama.

A murder mystery set in New Zealand, within an hour or two of my hometown? Yes please.

A solid addition to the Allen Mystery series, set in New Zealand. Interesting cast of characters with only a whiff of the “insta love” that seems to plague this genre.
Some casual racism consistent with the time period, but still unpleasant.

The first of Marsh's book in this series set in New Zealand! I wasn't sure I'd be that into that one, as it involved yet another theatre troupe and definitely had a slow start. But I was quite into it by the end. And Marsh's descriptions of the New Zealand landscape are very beautifully done.

This one was pretty boring, it took forever to get to the point with way to much time spent on where everyone was and the theater layout.
