This was a great contemporary romance that transported me into an early 2000s romcom! From the very beginning, we have a unique meet-cute of friends when Audrey, Claire, and Naomi meet at the funeral of the guy they are all seeing. We get to see their friendship develop as the story progresses, but I would’ve liked to have “The Pact” a bit more incorporated into the story.

This is a hate-to-love romance if I’ve ever seen one! Naomi despises Oliver and his family at the beginning of the book, but by the end, she can’t get enough of them. At times, I did find that Naomi’s attitude towards Oliver gave me some whiplash. I really enjoyed Oliver as a character and love-interest, more than I did Naomi. He was always kind, flirty, and had the best intentions. Oliver and Naomi’s dynamic and banter, though at times a little crazy, was so fun to read about. You could really see their chemistry and their feelings starting to develop.

I also love that we got to see Naomi’s feelings towards Walter soften too. It was a heartfelt addition to the story that I think separated it from a lot of other hate-to-love romances I’ve read.

In general, I wasn’t completely obsessed with this book, but it was a solid read. There wasn’t anything in particular I loved, but also nothing I really hated. Just a good middle of the line book!

As a huge fan of Lauren Layne's books, I was excited to read this new series after reading the tease when the book deal was announced. Unfortunately, this book didn't leave me frantically turning the pages like some of her previous novels.. The book fell flat in the chemistry and romance department. I wanted more connection and more steam and this book didn't deliver.

gonna be honest... i didn't think i would enjoy this... yet here i am... LOOK. I'm a LOSER!!!! IT'S A QUARANTINE, BABY! WE GOTTA DO WHAT WE CAN TO MAKE IT THROUGH! this was fun, interesting, i liked the characters, i love the romance, i like hearing about rich people's problems, i'm not sure if i'm the right person to be giving genuine critiques at this time! my only real complaint is that i wanted to read more about the friendship between the three women. HONESTLY this was like if the men in sex and the city weren't garbage - but what i love about sex and the city is not the romances that crop up (though the Aiden v. Mr. Big debacle weighs heavily on my conscience), but the tried and true friendship between the four women. so when this was reminding me of the unrealistic nonsense of sex and the city i was like YESSSSSS but that friendship just never fully came to fruition on the pages, which i wanted. like how about just regular brunches??? anyway, i still loved this!

It's a cliche story line, but so well done! I live the characters and the slow burn of the romance

Light and easy and demanded nothing of me while reading it which is about all I can handle right now. Well written for this genre.
