You’re moving forward.
She was trying. She wanted to. But if her reaction to Oliver Cunningham this week had taught her anything, it was that maybe one couldn’t fully move on until they’d faced the past.
Not really like what I was expected, honestly. I was prepared for some sexy scenes and lots of sexual comments—considering they're some contents I got from reading romance books this year, but Passion on Park Avenue surprised me a lot.
The plot was interesting but kinda slow-paced. This book was so much more than just romance comedy book; it’s about moving on and letting go. It’s about dealing with your past, but also realizing that you’re mature enough to let go of your hatred and fear. I love the comedy this book has because Naomi met her best friends under a weird circumstance; they were all fooled by the same man.
Even though I was having a hard time to understand Naomi’s intention, it doesn’t mean the characters weren’t well-written. They feel real somehow, despite the weird circumstance that happened to each character; they didn’t feel two-dimensional to me. Naomi may be lacking on her true intention and Oliver’s closure to Naomi didn’t satisfy me—they’re still fun and their dynamics are too painful to read. Most of the time, I wish they both did or acknowledged their feelings and dirty laundries, but Lauren Layne kind of saved the tea for later—which left me skimming few pages so I could get the closure I deserved.
My rating:3.5/5 stars
Favorite shelf: I’m a sucker for second-chance trope so yes.
Will I recommend it to you? This is my first chick lit book I read, so I don’t know yet if there’s any better book than this, but if you want to read something to kill your time, go for it!

I liked this book just fine up until the last like 30 pages, when it took a sudden turn for the melodramatic and the resolution felt forced. Am I going to read the blatantly set-up companion book about the main characters' best friends getting together just because one of them is a rugged contractor and self-described lumberjack? Yes, obviously.

when he read the entire anne of green gables series for her i just.
Liked it! But probably my least fav Lauren Layne of all time. Like 3/4 of the way through her works!
I read this book for @kendralovesbooks and @shelbytaggartreads live show that’s coming up this week! They will be having a special guest @averie.loves.books with them this month! I can’t wait to hear the discussions they will have with this book because it definitely has elements I can’t wait to talk about with other people who have read this book!
❤️Review❤️
This is a cute and lighthearted romance! It’s book 1 in a trilogy following women who meet at the man they were seeing’s funeral. Our main character in this book is Naomi. She is a firecracker of a character and it was fun seeing her rags to riches story that led her to who she is today. Her love interest is Oliver. He tormented her in her past and their lives are about to cross paths again. I loved the slow burn enemies to lovers romance they shared. This book is only 277 pages and I worried that it would feel rushed. With short romances usually it’s safe to assume that it’s going to be an instalove kind of romance and I didn’t feel like that at all with this book. This is also a pretty PG13 book. Sex is behind the scenes, which can be refreshing. I liked that their personal as well as relationship development was the primary focus. Based on the epilogue I’m really excited to see how the next love story will go! Overall this was a really sweet book and I can’t wait to continue with this series!

My favorite of the series also a ridiculously adorable and fun read.
I've been in a dreadful reading limbo these last two weeks. I started a couple books but couldn't get further than a handful of chapters. I've only been able to finish one book: PASSION ON PARK AVENUE by Lauren Layne. It's a fun, enemies to lovers story featuring Naomi Powell, a self-made billionaire, and Oliver Cunningham, her childhood nemesis, now...neighbor. While I do tend to enjoy slow burns, this one felt like it lacked spice. It reads more like women's fiction to me. My favorite part of the book was the unlikely bond that developed between Naomi, Claire and Audrey. I love reading about empowering female friendships! Overall, I did enjoy the book as it was the only one I managed to finish since WOLF RAIN.
