LOVED the format/framing device where all of the stories led into one another.

Wow wow WOW this book. Beautiful, shocking, dream-like, powerful. Donoghue's prose is mesmerizing. A book like this is a rare find, and I'm so glad I found it.

I really loved this!!! I loved how each story started, I loved the reinvention, I loved that it was all focusing around similar themes but felt different and fresh with every story. I also just really liked the prose. It was SUPER.

I found this book interesting, but the thread that connected one story for the next kept bothering me a lot. It felt like a recursive loop where I was supposed to keep track of a witch of one story also being a nice person from another story and connect everything like a tree of sorts.

But, I really liked the stories in themselves, where the witches aren't automatically bad people, the characters aren't default straight or white, and that they were written so well that I couldn't discern which fairy tale it was from, but presumed it to be its own.
