I remember reading this book when I was a kid and I had to reread it after seeing the full eclipse... actually quite cute and I feel like the ridiculous characterization of middle school children was very accurate. 3.5/5

At times predictable, but a really engaging story of three teenagers who are brought together by a solar eclipse.

The plot itself was good, but the characters were unbelievably irritating.

Is there anything this author can not do?

I prefer not to write any synopsis for Wendy Mass's books, as they are so delightful to discover with zero expectations. Each is a jewel.

I will say, though, that the story reignited my fascination with astronomy. :)

I remember checking this book out of the library over and over and over again as a kid, and with the eclipse last week I got the urge to reread it, and I'm glad to say it (mostly) holds up. Also I do love that upon reading this again there is truly one (1) token neurotypical child in this bunch, and while I don't think that was intentional, it suddenly makes a lot more sense why I latched onto this book so much. Anyway, if anyone needs me I'm going to be thinking about how amazing it is to share a moment in time with other people and the infinite possibilities of the universe for the foreseeable future.
