Lots of emotion in this book. It was a quick read. Romance between two damaged men who are letting their past trauma prevent them from, from living in the now and moving on. As they gradually develop a relationship and begin to open up to each other they try to move on but when a shocking discovery from the past pops up between them will they be able to move on?

**Following might be spoilery!**

While both men are suffering past trauma and struggling with attempting a relationship. While I can empathize with Scottie’s difficulty with trust my heart really goes out to Lance as he’s trying so hard and it doesn’t appear his effort is being reciprocated. Some of the most heartbreaking thoughts/dialog belonged to Lucas and those scenes gutted me. In the crisis moment and aftermath Scottie is obviously shocked and suffering but it seems poor Lucas’ heart is getting pummeled without cause. It caused me to be a bit less sympathetic to Scottie, especially in the big confrontation moment.

The ending is satisfactory but I think I needed more depth of feeling from Scottie. Lucas definitely has more understanding and forgiveness in him than I think I would.

Rafe and Alex are my favorite Felice Stevens' couple, so I was excited to read this one. I loved seeing Rafe and Alex. I loved the dogs. I loved Scottie. I liked Lance and his mom. I hated the surprise twist in the story.
