This novel is an absolute delight, brimming with sass and just the right amount of intrigue. I stumbled upon it during a casual browse at Barnes & Noble, enticed by its promise of short chapters and affordable price. While I hoped my partner would join me in the reading adventure, it turned out to be a solo journey for me. Yet, I savored every page, thoroughly immersed in its captivating narrative.

Nora O'Malley's tale is as complex as it is thrilling. As the daughter of a con artist who specializes in targeting criminal men, Nora grew up learning the tricks of the trade. But when her mother's latest mark becomes more than just a target, Nora orchestrates her escape, pulling off the ultimate con. For five years, Nora has been living a semblance of a normal life, but when her carefully constructed facade starts to crumble, she's forced to dust off the skills she left behind.

With three pressing problems on her plate, Nora's life takes a dramatic turn. Her ex walks in on her with her girlfriend, Iris, leading to a tangled web of emotions among their circle of friends. The morning after this unexpected encounter, they find themselves in a situation that escalates from awkward to deadly when they all have to meet to deposit fundraiser money at the bank. Little do they know that their routine errand will turn into a nightmare as two armed men storm the bank.

As the tension rises, Nora's true colors shine through. The bank robbers may think they're in control, but they have no idea who they're really holding hostage. Nora's past and present collide in a gripping tale of survival and deception, where every twist and turn keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, this novel is a thrilling ride that keeps you guessing until the very end. If you're willing to dive in without too many preconceptions, you're in for a treat.

“the world is tilting again. but i have people to hold on to. people to fight for. and that is so different than just fighting for yourself.”

~ ♡ 4/5

i loved wes and nora so much, the way they protected eachother always and would genuinely go to hell and back for one another was so beautiful.

nora is someone i wish i could be, strong minded, powerful and just down right a bad bitch. she had to go through so much, so young. and she still only wanted to do right in the world.

this book was so beautifully written, the only thing i didn’t like was the font (is that weird? idk.) and how secretive everything was. i finished the book and i still don’t know anything? like i know the girls she’s been and that’s about it.

hopefully the second book makes everything make sense. but i would definitely recommend!

4.5 stars rounded up. This book was funny and emotional and heartbreaking in all the best ways and all the girls really resonated with me. I loved the switching between the past and present, and I think that made it so much more impactful.
