just not as good as the other books. still great, but it's like someone trying to write as Kundera, not Kundera.

I'm always blown away by how Kundera turns seemingly boring stories of real, ordinary people into remarkable books of great depth. This "Identity" is no exception. When I was in the middle of reading, I felt it was lighter than other of his books and I missed his large philosophical wanderings. It wasn't until the end that I realized I underestimated the "simple" subject of love. The book perfectly described that twisted sense of ownership that usually comes with love, the things people do in fear of "losing sight" their love ones and the real challenge of not losing your own identity in the middle of a long relationship. The whole book is worth reading just for the amazing ending. I identified with it and I think everyone is going to too at some point.
Kundera never seems to be able to disappoint me.
