This was a good read. I liked the story, and Stef and Wil are cute. I enjoyed reading it. I was just really bothered by the whole dragons-don't-have-mental-illnesses thing. They have minds and are intelligent beings, right? I could accept that their mental illnesses are different from the ones humans have. But even then, the dragons in this series are way too much like humans. I already have a hard time buying them as being thousands of years old. They would have to be written very differently and, let's be honest, a lot better, for me to truly believe what the book would like me to.

This was my least favourite series by the author, mainly because I found the dragons to be disappointing. They have cool lore, but them being just like hell hounds didn't work for me.

Look. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t expect much from the original series Hidden Species, but I’m 8 books in which includes this spinoff, and I can say that I really do enjoy all the characters that have been introduced. Masters has brought an interesting paranormal world full of demons, shifters, dragons, elves, and more, and though while mostly light hearted and fun, there are some serious topics thrown in for good measure as well.

So yes, this is the most serious book of the bunch, focusing on Steffen, head of security for the dragons, and why he’s the ultimate in theorizing conspiracies. His background was heartbreaking, but his healing was a poignant tale to read as Masters mostly concludes the conflict that started in the previous book and is related to the main story arc of the original series.

Again, low on funny shenanigans as compared to other entries, where this shines is all the people we’ve been introduced to coming together, fighting off evil as a solid team who always has each others’ backs! A solid romance and conclusion to this spinoff, though I’m very confident we will see these characters again!!!

This one broke my heart a little bit! I loved getting to know why Steffen is so paranoid. I love how he and Will fit!

Perfection

Glad to see some of our favorite consipory theorist theories were right. He needed his validation to feel whole. My heart broke for these 2 men for hiding their love for so long I see why they did but still painful feeling it. Louisa did a spectacular job of making you feel all of their emotions. Can't wait to see what's next in this crazy world.

This was much more emotional than the other books in the series. Steffan had so many emotional layers due to his previous abuse that were previously unseen in the other books.

Wil was an absolute dull and perfect boyfriend. He showed true love and compassion. I loved the twin twist and it really gave Steffan some validation on all of his conspiracy theories.

I highly recommend this read!
