I will say the last Nicholas Sparks book I read, I decided I wasn’t into Nicholas Sparks stories anymore. However, this one was very different than the typical romance, cliche stories I have read in the past. There was a double timeline happening as you read and I was so unsure how they were going to tie together and when they did, I was so taken back! One story filled with drama, fear, suspense and the other the typical romance, fairytale, “Dreamland.”

Colby's love story/perspective just felt very cheesy and typical of those love-at-first-sight movies. Beverly's story was more compelling to me, however, the ending felt like a cop out. The twist was okay, but it just wasn't a great conclusion to tie the two parallel plots together.

Always appreciate some mental health awareness with “Beverly” having bipolar I, and how she is able to lead a normal life the majority of the time with help/meds/therapy.

But okay, again with being in love after like 5 days (I know I know, it’s a romance. And written by Sparks. I knew this would happen going into it. But still.) He loooooves that Morgan shits on influencers even though she and her friends are influencers, so…I don’t mind the mention of TikTok, as this is a book written modern day. But she wants to be a “positive role model” and is just…idk, she struck me as “not.”

Also gosh darnit with the writing out every. detail. that doesn’t. matter. Steps in making food and what the food entailed- this is not a cookbook. The amount of things in the drawers at “Beverly’s”- ffs I’ll just clean my own drunk drawers and bedroom if I wanted that thanks.

This book was really good but super slow to me in the beginning. About half way I guessed the ending but not completely. So that gave it a bit of a surprise ending. The only reason it doesn’t get a 5 is because it felt like this book might be for younger people. I don’t know enough about Tik Tok and that to really connect to it. Besides that there were still pieces of Sparks older books throughout.
