While I wouldn’t say this book taught me anything *new* about life, it certain strengthened my convictions about the lasting effects of the choices one makes, and how the most important things in life aren’t the things one can see or even properly express with words.

What a complex one. Born was such a despicable and easily despicable character. And walker was all over the place my allegiances kept shifting between characters like a pinball. Very well written as ever and conceptually formatted really interestingly. Loved the settings, but I was definitely uncomfortable for a large portion of this and it left a bad taste in my mouth by the end. Very good though.

On the heels of "Man in the Dark," I'm left asking myself, in the words of a previous Auster book, "Why Write?"

Mr. Woods' takedown was indeed harsh, but I'm left with the sense that Mr. Auster hasn't much left in him since "Book of Illusions." He's always been a true romantic, and "Invisible" draws out aspects of existence that matter most, at least matter most to Auster and many of his readers. I'm just not sure what he's attempting here other than to keep spinning tales in which love rules all.

very easy to read, light, sexy and funny with a good twist. Could come off as an exercise in narration but Auster has such a deft hand with pace it was all just enough. Yet maybe it's overall a little inconsequential. the race critiques that seem only to deepen--enjoyably so--right at the end leave the entire piece on quite a puzzling note.

Don't put it down for too long or you might lose the plot. Love the characters.

Goed boek dat je wel met de nodige vragen en verwarring achterlaat, zoals bij ongeveer al zijn boeken. Buitengewoon fijn geschreven, Austers stijl bevalt mij heel goed.
