I confused the plot of this book with the plot of a doctor who episode. Totally my fault, but made for a very confusing read

'Sometimes, people become currency-goods themselves. If a power field compels it, they are bound to be sucked in. The trio turned themselves into a three-in-one biblical gift set and hurried up `Level 647.'
Not clever enough of a reader for the book, might give it another go at a later date. There's a sequel as well, I hear?
