This book was so slow at first and then so rushed at the end! Like the concept and story are good in theory but the execution is just, I mean he fumbled the bag very hard!

Pulsing magic, good old intrigue, intelligently executed subplots

This book took me much longer than I expected it to because honestly it was so unbelievably boring. The idea and concept for this book were amazing but it was very poorly executed. Too much focus was placed on pointless things and then things I actually cared about were skipped over and rushed.

I loved the detail in this book. The end left me wanting a sequel. I hope he makes one.

There was plenty that was good about this book. I really enjoyed the combining of Biblical magical creatures with other mythological creatures into one coherent idea of magic in the world.

This was a DNF. I got less than a hundred pages through the book when I realized I wasn’t looking forward to reading this, was intensely bored, wasn’t connecting with the book at all, and also DID NOT want to read a book about warring churches when I picked up a book that seemed to be about Celtic magic.

This guy has clearly done his research but it’s very poorly executed, and frankly, boring.

I enjoyed this book. However, you get started in a modern day plot that’s very interesting and then you jump back in time for the entire book and never return to the modern day until the epilogue. The book is definitely written by a man… Overall not bad, an enjoyable audiobook for a long drive. Gets too into history at times and brings in new characters that really don’t add to the plot
