As a Semester at Sea alum… I was thrilled to read this book. You can tell Urban did her research on the program with the way she describes certain settings and procedures unique to the program.

As for the plot - it took until about halfway through the book to get to where the prologue was. I felt it was really dragging for the first 1/3.

There weren’t any characters I was crazy about, and they felt too immature to be college students to me. I also thought a lot of the dialogue choices were really cringe, it was trying to emulate Gen Z but you can tell it is definitely not written by someone that uses Gen Z slang in their vocabulary.

Despite these criticisms, I enjoyed the book! I love a y/a mystery and  definitely see/appreciate the Christie influence x SAS collab.

This book lost me somewhere around the point a character admitted to smoking meth to be better at baseball.

It was good, I liked the jealousy, betrayal, and mystery on board a school cruise. Is that a real thing? Cause thats super cool.

The main character wasnt my favorite but I liked all the others. Everyone has secrets, and a couple people go missing and die on the cruise! You follow Jade as she tries to find out who murdered who, before its pinned on her. Jade is always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
