Sweet story which starts when both main characters are in high school. Might have been a 4 if there was a bit more explanation of the motivations each character had.

I have one gripe with this book....
It's too short!! I loved every minute of it and I wanted more! I wanted more Whit and Tucker.
Definitely going to be checking out more from this author.

An enjoyable, affirming read that I really enjoyed.
This is a short story about Whit and Tucker, told mostly by Tucker with witty interjections from Whit.
It spans the time time from their very brief affair at college to the current 10 year class reunion for Tucker. Tucker is still firmly closeted, even to himself and the snippets of his life we see paint a sad picture. Whit seems to have had a better life though we dont get to find out much other than his current job!
The story ends at the start of something for them and I'd have loved to have a more fleshed out version.
1.12.19 reread : yes, all of the above! Do want to know more of the interim and more of the after, signs for me of a good short story!

Loved this short story. Wish it was much longer and REALLY hope we can read about Tucker and Whit again.
I was like in a trance reading this story. Just COULD NOT STOP. It's told in the 1st person POV and It alternates between Tucker and Whit who went to the same small college in Virginia. Whit was a freshman and out, Tucker a Senior who was deeply in the closet. Things ended, because Tucker could not admit who he was.
10 years later he's a lawyer in DC, but goes home for high school reunion. He sees Whit again who now teaches at their old school. The feelings are all the same, but this time Tucker is braver and knows exactly what he has cheated himself out of by giving up Whit.
This was written so nicely, voices so different, but equally earnest. Loved.
Very nice story.
