Bears #1! Another account of how some humans are selfish and can't coexist with animals. Some parts are hard to read (abuse, bear bile farming, trophy hunting, no more hibernation??) and others show better human/bear relations (polars, pandas). Hope spectacle bears can be researched more, but maybe they remain the most elusive bear. The author's favourite is also mine - polars :) In the epilogue, it states that climate change, population growth, and habitat loss will render only three bear species to prosper beyond the end of the century :( I want a physical copy of this book in hardcover.

"A group of pandas is called an embarrassment, and for good reason."

"Panda love is merely an unintentional consequence of our own self absorption."

"Had the moon bear been born black and white instead of black and gold, he would've been worshipped. Instead, the bile bear knows only pain."
