Silas & Maggie

I'm a huge fan of all things home renovation and was excited when I realized Maggie, our FMC has her own Youtube show flipping houses. Was this book swoon worthy and had your heart in a pitter patter? For me? No. I wasn't dying to fall in love with Silas, our MMC, but I still enjoyed the book. Being true to a small town story, there are a ton of side characters, all of whom I loved.

“At the end of the day, your quality of life is determined by the people you surround yourself with.”

...Maggie...
Maggie's character and story unfolds the ENTIRE book. From beginning to end, you're still figuring out who she is and what her past entails. You put little pieces together here and there, almost in the same way she's putting together a house. She removes pieces and uncovers its history, so maybe Lucy Score was doing the same thing for us in the form of Maggie.

...Silas...
Silas is your typical small-town hot guy who works with his hands. He's sexy and everyone wants him. His dog, Kevin, made him even more likable. Silas is adorable though and is a complete open book. He doesn't like uncovering all things Maggie and wants to keep her for himself. He spends the book trying to convince her to stay put for once in her life.

...Wallace....
Wallace was my favorite character. He reminds me of the old man on Up. He's grumpy and straight forward, but also doesn't have time for your shenanigans. There's something charming about him though and his passion for The Old Campbell Place. I would LOVE to read his personal story.

“Magpie, when you deal with everything on your own, you’re robbing the people who care about you of their chance to be there for you, with you.”

Overall, it was a cute book. This history of the house and the town's backstory intrigued me the most. It tapped into my detective side and I was dying to know the answers. I didn't find too much chemistry between Maggie and Silas, but by the end I did think their love was cute. I wasn't rooting for them to get together the entire book though. If they went their separate ways or stayed together, I would've felt the same. I really mainly focused on this dang house! I wish I could have an entire book on the house and the history of the Campbells or even Wallace's backstory. It did take me longer than normal to finish this particular book. I wasn't dying to read it every chance I got, but I also couldn't walk away from it.

TROPES:
- Small Town Romance
- Opposites Attract

A great comfort read! Loved the trope of the guy being certain that they will get married. The book ties very nicely together in the end.

I was smiling the entire time and loved every second of it! I’m an HGTV fanatic so Silas and Maggie’s Fixer Upper/Home Town vibes scores major points for me!

Their very first meeting gave meet cute. The back and forth flirting in between business questions was perfect. I was actually grinning reading it! Silas really believed Maggie was his future wife from the moment he met her and he kind of pushed himself on to her but it was adorable! Silas forced Maggie to chill, enjoy the fruits of her labor. They naturally fell into their coupledom and the unveiling of the photo was the perfect way to usher in the next chapter!

The book was a true rom-com but I loooovvvee the town mystery! It was a really fun element to keep you hooked! I enjoyed all the small details down to the subscriber screen names.. donnameagleismyhero?!

Maggie Moves On was a cute read. There was lots of wit and banter that was fun and had me laughing. The main characters fell a little flat for me though. Silas and his alpha male tendency drove me a little crazy. It was hard to see independent Maggie being okay with a man who told her what to do so often. The mystery around the Old Campbell Place had me hanging around though it was neat to see where it led.

Thanks to Netgalley for the copy of this book to read and review!

Started out really promising but along 60% through I started losing interest. I'm not one to shy away from long books but this felt a little too long for me. Kinda wish the story was a little more cohesive and tighter. Just too many things going on at one point.

There definitely were some heartwarming moments and I loved the found family theme.

Was excited for this book since I enjoy Lucy Score’s books. It sadly took me a very long time to get into it and the book was a tad boring and dragged on. The main problem I had was there like 8 different plots and storylines going on and they didn’t get resolved until the last 20 pages. I’m usually fine with this but it felt like too much going on.

It was alright. If you like her books, you would like this. It didn't stand out a ton though.

Lucy Score is my new go-to author for found family happily ever after books. I found Silas to be a bit too pushy at first, and his third act tantrum to discover that the woman he loves is contemplating EXACTLY what she promised him she always did was ridiculous, so thank you for the smart women who came him and calmed him down. That made him a bit more realistic to me.
All the side characters felt fleshed out, and I know that all the exes getting along and all the characters getting married that you want is fantasy, but LET ME HAVE MY FANTASY.
