"Confidence comes from knowing that whatever the situation, you know you'll make the best of it. Confidence is certainty in your ability to rise."

I kept hearing great things about Maggie Moves On, so I decided to give in and finally read the story myself. I've been meaning to try Lucy Score's writing for a while now, and I have to say that I definitely understand why so many people seem to love her books. True, the smut was without a doubt WAY too much and WAY too open door for me. I can't deny that there was skimreading involved, and those scenes were the main reason I ended up docking a star. BUT. I did love the rest of the story. While things can be said about certain aspects of the descriptions of both Silas and Maggie being incredibly cliche, there was also something about them that made it very easy to warm up to them. Maggie Moves On also has such a great cast of side characters, and the overall dynamics worked really well. And Kevin! I loved how the dog just kept popping up (and totally stealing the show at times). There were quite a few elements incorporated into the plot besides the romance, but I personally really enjoyed how everything was woven together. And who doesn't love a bit of a treasure hunt and historical mystery?! I definitely want to try more of her stories in the future.

Yikes. This story was kind of a mess but I could barely see it through all the red flags Silas was waving.

WOW!!! I know everyone raves about Tessa Bailey, and she's great, but y'all are not giving Lucy Score the hype and praise she deserves.

First, SILAS FUCKING WRIGHT holy mother of fictional men

Anyway. I adored this book. It snuck its way into being my favorite book of the year so far. I was sure it was going to be Twisted Games, but I think the torch will be passed to Maggie.

Also! No third act breakup or miscommunication trope! That itself made this so refreshing.

I adored every single character and animal. Honestly, I loved nearly everything about this.

My only complaint? Maggie is described as around 5'10 and Silas is 6'4.... can we PLEASE have more books with equal height partners? Not all men are over 6 feet tall. Yay for tall girl rep, though.
