Something about this Chimamanda's writing says "this is what I do and this is what I'm good at" in a simple and comfortable way that you just want to be immersed in it. Her characters are sublime. Typically stories like which don't have a plot but are just about people I can become borer of but not her characters. That being said I wish it felt more complete. I want to know the full ending and be a part of it rather than outside of it.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It just moved a bit too slowly and caused he reader to be cheering for inevitable adultery, which for me is a big deal.

I did really appreciate reading this and getting multiple points of view from different black voices. As a white personal, it's easy to assume all black (American or non-American) feel the same way about things and to see them as a 'them' and not a wide variety of personalities and perspectives.
I know a few Nigerian families so it was fun to read about Nigeria and it's culture.

My favorite characters were Dike, Curt, and Obinze's mom. There were definitely tons of characters as another reviewer mentioned, but to me it just made the story feel full and real. All of our lives are full of side characters that mean something for that day or that moment and then pass out of the narrative.
I look forward to reading more of her novels in the future.

Amazing, I can't wait to read the rest of Adichie's books. She writes so provocatively, its beautiful.

I really, really loved this book. I think that what Adichie captures so beautifully is the fullness of each character and each emotion. She shows us their flaws and underbellies and we love them anyway. There is never a right answer or path for her characters, but we find that the most important thing in each of their lives turns out to be their relationships, both with themselves and others. But despite all of this, the novel never takes itself too seriously. It’s incredible!
