This is a hard read, but it holds truths even for today.

Ghost Wall was an unexpected read. Pleasantly short but a full and complete story. It is fun to watch the author weave together aspects of ancient and modern culture. Scavenging and swearing or family drama with old fashioned cooking. The characters while fully fleshed out generally made me sad, they were so beat down by life and often so scared and vulnerable- which in turn highly the vulnerability of the setting.
I was both glad and disappointed by the end having expected the main character to die in the moments of ritual but her finding sisterhood with Molly was much better, just not what I was expecting.
Overall a solid book, well written, atmospheric, and eerily human.

it’s hard to give this what I’d think is an accurate star rating. i definitely can’t say i enjoyed it but i see what sarah moss was doing and she did it quite effectively. she’s inhabited a domestic abuse victim’s mind very well and it’s extremely disturbing.
