I wish I had more time to read this play and take it in fully. I read it for my lit class and did fall asleep at least once. That being said, I found it to be a fresh exploration of the cultural war between Nigerians and the occupying British. I would suggest watching the play on YouTube as you read it so as to fully experience it.

Having read this play twice for school now, I figured it was about time I reviewed it. This is a play I think about regularly -- it's deeply tragic and very impactful. The story of two contrasting peoples that for once is not about culture clash but about one man's conflicting desire to go through what's expected of him paired with Solyinka's expert prose makes for a relatively short read that sticks with you for a while. I do think that this is best experienced without spoilers, so give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed (or if you're not into reading scripts, there's a movie on Netflix).

I like how it focuses a lot on the relationships between the colonizers and the colonized and the realistic nature of the colonized trying to explain why the colonizers are causing more problems by interfering than by not interfering, that they shouldn’t even be there in the first place much less trying to change tradition.

I like it even more, I spent more time with it. Insanely good.
