Damn they really went above and beyond in revamping the series for tv and expanding the world. 
The books especially this one compared to the show feels so derivative and flat.

I thought this book was better than that first with more dynamic character development and storytelling. Maybe it was the moodier tone this one has where the first seemed more like a teenage dream summer and simpler plot.
