I didn't even realize this was by a Palestinian author when I picked it up, but I'm so delighted to have read it. The language is beautiful, as are the illustrations. It's so rich with meaning and details in all the art, and getting to see the words in their written language as well as with anglicized characters is such a lovely touch! The compassion and warmth overflows in this little story.

The page that speaks of "Showq", a "love that burns, that yearns to touch homeland-heartland soil one last time" made me choke up. They deserve to be able to do that. Just like everyone deserves to be able to touch and hold and be surrounded by the things that make them feel whole, that feel like Home.

I'm so grateful to have learned even a little, and know this: from the river to the sea. You are loved. You are not alone. We are here for you.
