Just amazing.
I read this book a few years ago and everytime I see it on my bookshelf I just want to read it again. I fell in love with the main character James and his point of view of life.

I really enjoyed this book. A quick read, I wished that the story would have continued into James' college experience, but alas. I really enjoyed James' character, I found myself really relating to his anti-social tendencies and the anxieties about social interaction and the hopelessness of it all. Overall, a good story, but it was really the character development that made the book.

The obvious line is to call this book an updated version of [b:The Catcher in the Rye|5107|The Catcher in the Rye|J.D. Salinger|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1165517671s/5107.jpg|3036731], and, you know, I'm actually okay with that, because I love Salinger and I loved this. James' vibrant voice is terrific--funny and real--and the scene at the National Gallery is absolutely killer. Exploring James' lonely psyche will make you feel less so.
