A fun cozy mystery--though I like her quilting series better.

Really didn't care for this. Seemed to have too much declaring that they live in a small southern town and Myrtle isn't is Marples....

Fun, a better mystery than the last book in the series but not many new characters. I found it difficult to keep track of the society ladies due to their ridiculous names and the fact that I had a head cold. Still it was fun.

More a 3.5 - took me a bit to get into the author’s writing style, but once I did, this was a fun cozy

Myrtle Clover is a 80 something year old lady living in a small town surrounded by friends, neighbors and her son, Red the local police chief. Myrtle is always looking for something new to add excitement to her life. When Tammy Smith the local beautician is found with shears in her back at the bottom of the stairs, Myrtle sees this as a perfect opportunity to try out some of her sleuthing skills. Myrtle learns that there are not many people in the town who Tammy has not insulted, embarrassed or humiliated. The more Myrtle investigates the more danger she puts herself in. Overall a good quick read.

Cute characters

I enjoyed the characters the most and would have liked a bit more character development early in the book, since they are so interesting. The mystery and plot was ho hum.

Fun, but Formulaic

This series has a distinct formula, but Myrtle is so much fun. I think she should know better, but I can see people I know in her. I love that she is so strong willed and sharp at her age. The literary references are fun to find too.

I look forward to continuing this series to see what Myrtle gets into next.
