Funny and honest, although I wish it had been a biiit funnier and that he had spent equal amounts of time on old and new testaments

Humorous attempt to live all the rules in the bible in the most literal way possible. He starts out agnostic and ends agnostic with a little spirituality. It reminded me of the story of the man who was in prison and all he had to read was the bible. When he was freed all he could tell you was how many times the word "the" had been used and how many times the word "amen" was used, etc. . .

I was disappointed that his perusal of Christianity was a lame effort (at best). There was lots of little gems though in the reading that made me laugh and also contemplate why I pick and choose what I do.

Oh my gosh it's so depressing. This man lives a whole year "biblically" by pretending to "follow all the rules" but he makes only rare and perfunctory efforts to have a changed heart. He spends all this time and effort trying to "get it right" but doesn't seek a second opinion on spanking his own child even though his heart knows it's wrong. He's really actually a rude and selfish person which is hard to read about. He spends the majority of his year on the Old Testament but almost no time at all on the New Testament other than to refuse to even try to believe Jesus is his Lord. He comes out of his year as the same person who started it.

I read this as an Audible book. I was genuinely excited because it was narrated by the author, but his narration is very bland. I think some of the writing would have been more amusing/exciting if I had physically read the book myself.

A great read for anyone, religious, agonistic or atheist.

It's funny and inspiring--I wish I had this kind of commitment...not many Jesus followers I know do. I'm liking it.

This was the most interesting book I've read so far this year. A.J. is a compelling writer, and he certainly did his research. My only complaints are he said some insects have four legs and snakes are poisonous, but that's just the biologist in me nitpicking.
