TW for eating disorders, suicide, rape, and murder in war. If you’re interested in learning about Chinese beliefs about death, the afterworld, ghosts, and spirits at least during the 17th century—this will be really informative. There were parts of this book that I found interesting, but there were many parts that dragged on. There were some parts that seemed really well thought out and realistic and others that were way too convenient. Parts that were deep and touching and others that just really fell flat. Overall, this book was just okay.
