Sooooooo gorgeous, had to slowly savour each page. Amazing how pleasingly simple the lines feel, yet they're able to convey so much with their efficiency!

A short but stunning peek through the keyhole into Freddy Carrasco's afro-futurist acid trip. The book's divided into three sections, each offering another glimpse at this lively sci-fi world.

Born Again follows the mind of a young boy and the overwhelming, surreal trip he endures after taking drugs in the middle of a megachurch sermon. There isn't much to the plot or characters, but the experience of reading is unforgettable.

Swing is the most conventional story of the three, and the longest. Three kids visit a robotic surgeon to help repair their friend, a comatose android, but the doctor confesses that the replacement part they need has been discontinued and impossibly rare. When the kids run into an identical android, the thought hits all their minds at once...trade a life for a life? Dark, interesting, thoughtful, real.

Hard Body is the hardest to pin down — it may take some more reads to "get" — but I read it as more of a vibe piece, a deluge of visuals to submerge yourself in. It takes place in a crowded nightclub, with pages upon pages of unique-looking folks with interesting styles and histories written on their face. Carrasco's illustration chops are on full display, and he injects so much life into the page it's unreal.

Reading really feels like an experience; Carrasco's art is deftly arranged to where panels flow and blend and twist in a way that springs the whole thing to life in your head. If you manage to find a copy, definitely pick it up.
