Great first book of a series. The plot gets you right away and it is just the right blend of dark and light.

It's an interesting introduction to Anne Bishop for me. The story is pretty simple but entertaining enough.

Too much romance, too predictable. Funny opening line.

I have to say, I was much disappointed in this after reading and adoring the Jewels Trilogy. On the other hand, not remotely so disappointed as I was after cracking open Jacqueline Carey's new trilogy. This was actually a pretty decent read, just, not what I was hoping for.

Though I really liked this book it wasn't nearly as good as her Black Diamond series. The world was interesting and i liked the characters, but it all felt a little tired. The main romance was really the issue. It just didn't seem like much of a romance. Also the other characters were much much more interesting.

I got about 2/3 the way through this book and just had to quit.

The premise of the story was very interesting. However, the writing was dull, flat, and not descriptive at all. On the surface, the characters had potential to be interesting (well, Sebastian and Glorianna, anyway) but the rest were annoying fluff.

The sensual/erotic scenes were pretty good, and probably some of the best I've read. Not too messily detailed, but enough physical/mental attributes described to be interesting. A good novel is not comprised of only a few good paragraphs, though.

I was disappointed that I didn't care enough about this novel to finish it. This was a new author for me to try. I may give Ms. Bishop another chance with one of her other series.

I pretty much believe that the author miss the whole recipe for this book, i've read the jewels trilogy and liked it very much, but this book.... something in it made the whole reading activity to seems like a torture, something about the romance between sebastian and lynnea that doesn't seem right..... Overall, this book wasn't the worst book i've read so far but it surely wasn't the best one

A surprisingly sweet romance with an interesting fantasy plot. I'm glad I read it.
