10/5. Basically a Russian novel. Complete masterpiece, even better than I remembered.

As this is the first book in a set of four, not much happens except for establishing the premise of the book. There are a lot of problematic themes, but that's predictable knowing the background of the series.
If you've watched the series, the first season closely follows the plot of the first book.

I don't even fucking know. The last time I admitted to a guilty pleasure this reluctantly was when I had to admit I enjoyed the first few Sookie Stackhouse novels. And yet here I am, reading the books and watching the TV show like

read this for book club and idk if i’m even going because there’s an eagles game at the same time #not like other girls. i watched the jenny nicholson TVD recap video and both TVD and PLL were originally written was book packaging books, which are like nancy drew or the hardy boys, books written to fill a market gap.
this book was wild! here are my notes i wrote
1.) the author mixed up the delaware and the schulykill rivers which is crazy work
2.) everyone is wearing the ugliest possible outfit at all times
3.) why are so many grown men hooking up with these 17 year old girls
4.) emily says that maya’s dad is a civic engineer and it’s actually civil engineer.
