I really enjoyed the romance between Nate and Kris. They had great communication, minus the third act break up but that wasn’t really a miscommunication thing, and they both too accountability for any part they played in their conflicts. I also really liked the main plot and the set up of it as I was nervous after reading the previous books that Kris’s dislike for her future step mother was unfounded but it wasn’t which was great. However, I didn’t feel like we really got to see a true conclusion to this and get to see Kris and her dad discuss everything that happened and deal with the fall out because with less than 100 pages left there was another plot added in that did not need to be there. I think because of this it felt even more like Kris’s dad did not face any consequences for his behaviour and lack of parenting and given the plot twist or change he really did need to be pulled up on things, where as Nate’s father did seem to get pulled up on his short comings which were mainly due to his grief. I will also say I found it difficult to read Kris calling her dad ‘daddy’ at the age of 21, it was just weird to me. Overall, this could have been a four star if only Ana stuck to the main plot and did not try to add in that other twist at the end.
