I like a lot of Lillian Hellman's work, and this play is up there with the rest for me. She writes an interesting exploration of gender politics and the nature of gossip, and how harmful a simple lie can be. It's a heartbreaking play full of strong women roles that I find really fascinating.

Reminds me of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible' in regards to the power of a young girl's lie. Brilliant and horrific story.
