Loved the writing but unfortunately it wasn't as good as my last read from this author. I LOVE angst but this time it didn't work out. All this fighting was exhausting. I'm not sure throuples are my thing either. It seems so complicated lmao... at least here.
I really loved Bas more than anyone else. I got a lot of Ronan Lynch vibes from him who is one of my favorite characters. A hotheaded but sensible, insecure and very creative gifted guy. That's Ronan... and Bas now.

A book about 3 men who fit, find love, and forge a future together.
What I loved...
1. Drew: The handsome lawyer who is desperately in love with his best friend Bas. #BiggestHeart
2. Bas: The moody musical prodigy who is also in desperately in love with his best Friend Drew. #WhoAmIWithoutYou
3. Ezra: The college student and the man who brings them all together. #TheBestPartOfUs
4. Three men who balance each other out, each bringing something special to the relationship. #ItsUs
5. Angst-o-meter: Low angst. #BecauseImHappy
6. Romance and smiles.... #ThroughTheRoof
6. Steam-o-meter: Lowish steam and for good reason. I know that people would read MMM and low steam and would be like: DOES NOT COMPUTE. But it is for good reason, with the relationship takig center stage, and it's refreshing. #WhatWorksForUs
7. HEA: The sweetest, swooniest HEA #LeSigh

This was my first ever romance book I read with a poly relationship.
Two of them are best friends since forever and also (not so) secretly in love with each other. One of them is asexual and thinks their relationship could never work out because of him.
Then they meet Ezra.
I really loved the poly rep and also the ace rep in this!!!
It was openly and thoroughly talked about and felt super realistic.
Also I loved that this book wasn’t just a “threesome” fantasy. If you expect a lot of sex scenes in this...well there aren’t. It focuses more on their relationship itself and the problems, but also why they complete each other so perfectly.
My main problem was myself I guess. I just didn’t feel it. I didn’t feel the love between them because for me there weren’t enough scenes with them actually interacting.
I can imagine that it’s very hard with three MCs that also have a background story to keep the book short, but also tell a good story.
I personally just don’t like “we talked about everything and nothing” or “we talked all night” phrases. I need the actual conversations. I need to see and feel when they fall for each other. Instead there were a lot of fighting scenes.
So I guess it was just my personal taste that kept me from loving this book completely.
I would still recommend this book, if only for the rep, because Briar Prescotts style of writing is amazing and the story itself was good too.

Briar Prescott has done it again.
Once again she has written an absolutely captivating piece of romantic literature that had me hooked to my Kindle for twenty-four hours, unable to set it aside because of the lives unfolding on the page in front of me.
Inevitable is amazing. The chemistry between Bas, Ezra, and Drew crackles off of the page - both the sexual and romantic tension is so thick that you would need a chainsaw to cut it. The characters all feel incredibly real as well. Prescott has an amazing way with characterization and this book shows that talent again.
The romantic relationship and the struggles faced between the three men feel real. The hesitancy, the doubts they have as they face hurdles as a throuple, even the path to becoming one - it all felt incredibly real.
This book also features an asexual lead. This character is never written as though finding the right person to love will fix him, because he is not treated as if he is broken with his asexuality. Finding good asexual representation can be hard, and if you're looking for it? Look no further than this book. Because the asexual character? He's in a romantic relationship. He talks openly and honestly about his asexuality and what it means to be in a relationship with people who are not asexual.
That's another amazing thing that Prescott does with this relationship. They communicate. The problems they have are solved through communication, which after reading so many books where communication doesn't exist is a beautiful thing.
Every part of this book left me smiling. It hit all of my tropes - one night stand that never ends, friends to lovers, healthy relationships, a little bit of angst with a happy ending. I seriously would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a genuinely GOOD gay romance novel.

I'm a big Briar Prescott fan so when I was given the chance to read Inevitable as an ARC, I jumped at the offer before I even read the blurb. I was surprised to find that this is a MMM story...but I was even more surprised to find that I was so quickly drawn in, and how much I enjoyed the story of Drew, Bas, and Ezra.
Drew and Bas are volatile BFF's, so close they can handle the worst that they bring out in each other. Bas is a gifted musician who gets caught up in his work too often and Drew is his long-suffering best friend—suffering because he is desperately in love with Bas. BAs is in love too, but as he's asexual he doesn't think he can give Drew what he needs. Enter Ezra, who gives Drew exactly what he needs (SEX. Talking about hawt sex if that wasn't obvious...) and is the one-night stand that Drew can't stop thinking about. Poor Ezra is down on his luck but meets up with Drew and Bas who offer to let him stay in the apartment. Drew can't help but be drawn to Ezra...but neither can Bas.
What I really appreciate about Inevitable is that each character has their own struggles, but also they bring their own strengths to the relationship. Their stories intertwine—problems with Drew's family, Bas's struggles with his feelings for Drew (and Ezra,) but also his feelings of inadequacy with his asexuality, Ezra's desire to make more of himself but also to not depend on Drew and Bas too much.
I think the book's strength is the delicate balancing act of making each relationship important; the men as a whole, but also Drew/Bas, Bas/Ezra, Ezra/Drew. You could feasibly see them pairing off and still being happy...but not as happy as they are together. Ezra isn't the third that is needed to complete the duo of Bas and Drew, he's not some missing puzzle piece that serves to make their relationship whole. All three men exist and function on their own but they are made better, and happier, by being together.
This is more of a personal highlight but as someone on the asexuality spectrum, it was so refreshing to see Bas as is gray/ace and portrayed so carefully. Bas isn't angsting over his sexuality as a whole, it's the fact that he's in love with Drew and can't see who he is can mesh with who he loves. He isn't sex-repulsed or avoidant (and is in a rather steamy sex scene,) but his asexuality is respected and not something to be resolved or dealt with. They make it work without anyone being put in situations that make them uncomfortable or upset. It's just really really nice to see that on-page and it's something I really appreciate.
My only quibble is that I would have liked to see a little more of Drew and Bas's friendship, to get a wider scope of their relationship before Ezra arrives. I know that we are told that they've been friends since childhood, but somehow I was surprised later in the book when how Drew's family treated Bas is discussed. Something about them made me feel like they were very very close but became friends are college kids or adults. It's hard to put my finger on it.
Overall, I give this a 4.75. (Maybe even a 4.85 or 4.95 if those numbers didn't make me feel uncomfortable.) I didn't fall head over heels for the characters, but it was a close thing, and I stayed riveted to the story. Inevitable is VERY enjoyable, and nearly perfect.

Do you know what was Inevitable about this book? That Briar Prescott would write a beautiful and unconventional love story that takes hold of your heart and won't let go.
The navigation of a relationship with just two people is complicated enough, but throw in a third, add in one of the MCs being Ace and two of them being best friends who've been in love without ever acknowledging it for half their lives and you could have had a right mess.
Instead, what Briar gives the reader is an organically developed and cleverly paced narrative that takes them on a journey alongside Bas, Drew and Ezra as what they each bring to the other proves to be the catalyst for taking chances.
There is some angst, it would be unbelievable if there weren't doubts, fears and occasional stumbles, but a lot of the tension is caused by events outside of their relationship.
But, for me, everything about the way they came together just made sense, they fit and Ezra acted as the glue between Bas and Drew which let them finally let loose on their love.
It's not particularly steamy, there is a wonderfully hot hook-up when Drew meets Ezra for the first time (he and Bas are not a couple, no cheating here just saying!) and there is one scene between the three of them after they've committed to being a throuple.
Both are emotionally connected and integral to the plot, not thrown in just to meet a quota, and they resonate with feelings. The Epilogue is just gorgeous and made me very happy.

Spoiler
Drew's parents and sister are insert swear words of choice here and my heart broke for him when he came to the realisation that he'd never meet their unobtainable standards while remaining his true self. I despise people that cannot accept their children for who they are when it comes to their sexuality and identity. But, for me, everything about the way they came together just made sense, they fit and Ezra acted as the glue between Bas and Drew which let them finally let loose on their love.

I wish there was more on-page sexy times, but I am grateful that we got to see them make their way to each other. I'd have smacked Bas, but I really could feel his pain and insecurities.
Ezra turned out beautifully, and while I expected Drew to be the voice of reason, it was a pleasant surprise to watch Ezra, despite everything, remain solid even as Drew and Bas faltered a bit.
I'm so happy there was no manufactured "breakup" in this book. I'd have lost my marbles tbh. I was already emotional af just waiting for their HEA; anything jeopardizing that would have thrown me off the edge.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed this one.
