Skyrocketed to the best YA novel I've read releasing this year - next level spectacular, a f/m/m polyamorous relationship, Chinese mythology, tackling the patriarchy, gender politics, mecha aliens, What! A! Book!

There’s a random 1⭐️ Goodreads review for this book that definitely just doesn’t understand what an anti-hero is. They critique this as bad feminism because it’s violent, but white women never bat an eye in their dark romance books when it’s the men doing objectively horrible things, but oh wait, that’s supported and “hot” for some reason.

ANYWAY, to get off my soapbox about that. I really enjoyed this book. We take a look at a near future almost dystopian world where men and society are still horribly sexist and oppress women, even so far as actively killing them off to fight off this “alien race”. The topics handled in these books are deep and important. Our main character is an ANTIHERO, so don’t bitch about her being flawed - THATS THE POINT. You can barely even tell this is a YA book at most points, I feel anyone can enjoy this book. Second book coming in December! So excited. My only critique is it was a little ethereal and heady in some points that really went over my head and were hard to understand (the different realms they enter within the Chrysalises). I’m just stupid tho so. Romance aspect was also amazing, won’t spoil but good rep in many ways 😌5⭐️
