I'm sorry, but when I'm saying to a character very early in the book, "Oh no, you didn't!", it already puts the book in a bad light for me. The main character was stupid and did not receive the proper repremand she deserved for things she did. I like Jeffery Deaver, but for the huge plot flaws, I couldn't even give him 3 stars. I was very disappointed, and I don't comment very often about the books I read.

Well that book was a world wind of adventure am not even sure what to make of it right now, apart from that massive change of events I was totally not expecting to happen like it did. I honestly believed something else was going to occur but it didn't, the end was lovely

Very interesting and fast paced book. I could not put this one down. Read the book in a few days.

I....just....can't.
This was too boring for me. I got about 150 pages in, but it just doesn't keep my interest.

"When a night-time call to 911 from a secluded Wisconsin vacation house is cut short, offduty deputy Brynn McKenzie leaves her husband and son at the dinner table and drives up to Lake Mondac to investigate. Was it a misdial or an aborted crime report? Brynn stumbles onto a scene of true horror and narrowly escapes from two professional criminals. She and a terrified visitor to the weekend house, Michelle, flee into the woods in a race for their lives. As different as night and day, and stripped of modern-day resources, Brynn, a tough deputy with a difficult past, and Michelle, a pampered city girl, must overcome their natural reluctance to trust each other and learn to use their wits and courage to survive the relentless pursuit. The deputy's disappearance spurs both her troubled son and her new husband into action, while the incident sets in motion Brynn's loyal fellow deputies and elements from Milwaukee's underside. These various forces race along inexorably toward the novel's gritty and stunning conclusion. The Bodies Left Behind is an epic cat-and-mouse chase, told nearly in real-time, and is filled with Deaver's patented twists and turns, where nothing is what it seems, and death lingers just around the next curve on a deserted path deep in the midnight forest." (From Amazon)

I wasn't that into this one. The characters seemed a bit flat and the storyline was not as suspenseful as I thought it would be. Too high of expectations from Deaver maybe?

This was a good book. It doesn't pretend to be something else. The only issue I really had was the contruct of the book. The tense part is over 2/3 of the way through, then it takes a slow ride to the end. The tension disipates and leaves it wanting.

The main character Brynn is developed quite nicely and has some flaws. The twist is great and was rather unexpected.
SpoilerThe "demise" of Hart, the "seemingly" main protagonist, is a bit lack luster compared to how he was developed. I felt like he should I have gotten dropped off a cliff or got tricked into a gunshot in the face or something climatic.

If you haven't read Deaver yet and you enjoy suspense/thriller novels then I highly recommend him. This one is a page turner, with constant change of point of views: this is one hell of a way to build suspense.
The gist: A distress call sends a detective to investigate and she stumbles..well..to a number of 'bodies left behind'. I really enjoy reading about female investigators/detectives and really liked this one.

Good story idea but needed some serious editing, it went on too long and the ending was rather lame.
