Not quite the same as I rated it last time but a high 3.5 stars. It was enjoyable but while stuff happened it didn’t feel like we really got anywhere. Will finish the series though as I like the writing and the photos incorporated into the story.

Ransom Riggs delivers a spectacular addition to the Peculiar Children series. I love the characters and was glad we got introduced to new peculiars. The pictures....the pictures are amazing and flow seamlessly with the text. I found, at times, when reading something I couldn't wait to turn the page and see if that particular scene had a creepily fantastic photo to go along with it. This series is a favorite of mine and I look forward to another installment.

Usually sequels aren't better than the first, but in this case I definitely liked the sequel better since there is more action, mystery and romance. So far, I like all the characters (not yet sure about Enoch though) and I really love the plot. I did get teary eyed a few times, especially when the group got to London of 1940. I think Riggs really grasped the fear that children had during WW2, when they were being sent to God knows where and some stayed behind for whatever reasons. I'm hoping the third book will be even better since I'm expecting that's when the peculiar war will begin.
