That was interesting. Not sure if I will read the rest of the series though.

MY FREAKING HEART GUYS.
It's broken.
Shattered.
Dead.

I did not expect that kind of ending at all. I thought Legacy Lost was going to be an okay but cute kind of novella that would lead up to this mind blowing-ly amazing ending that would make me want to dive into the next book as soon as possible. Well, it did blow my mind. IN A SAD FREAKING WAY.

Legacy Lost was about Nalia and Grom. Now they have an arranged marriage, which most children of royalty have. It starts off with neither of them wanted to marry the other but then all of a sudden something clicks. They feel this magically pull (aka LOVE) towards one another. However, before anything can really be set in stone with each other - tragedy strikes in the most shocking way.

Well, if you read it before then you would know it's not really shocking but more like a wrong place and the really wrong time kind of moment. I'm not going to spoil anything about what happened. Just know that it made me sad.

I'm one hundred percent shook right now.

Cute little story. Sad ending.
Still kinda mad that Grom only started liking her because of her looks. I don't know that just made me mad and upset. But since I read the first book I think it's more then that

It was an okay-read.
I didn't enjoy it that much, maybe because I don't like Grom, but I feel it was a necessary read. Now I'm able to understand Grom's grief, his love for Nalia and everything that in the main novel was briefly mentioned.
Read it, if you have the chance! :)

I absolutely adored Of Poseidon and yes, I raved on and on about it. It was so super fabulous. When I saw that Tor was offering a free short story for the Of Poseidon series I jumped all over it. Legacy Lost tells the back story of Grom and Nalia. As Of Poseidon is about finding Grom a mate in a way, it was great to read the back story.

Legacy Lost is a sweet short story, that will leave readers want to read (or my case re-read) Of Poseidon. If you like mermaids (sorry syrena!) then I highly recommend these stories.

this is a prequel novella about Grom and Nalia before she disappears. It was short and to the point and not a necessary read. It sheds a little light on the two, and makes them a bit more interesting but you definitely do not have to read this before, during, or after reading Of Poseidon and Of Triton. I did mostly out of curiosity. I think it was okay, pretty self-explanatory.

I'm still waiting for a novella about Toraf and Rayna!

I'll admit, Grom and Nalia's story was intricate; it had tension filled moments but also incredibly cute ones as well. However, my main problem with this story is how rushed it felt. Granted, it is a novella but that just means unnecessary details need to be cut and the climax needs to have an obvious, but not choppy, path. In Legacy Lost, the characters (especially Grom) change too much and too quickly for it to seem realistic. From hating Nalia in the beginning of the book, Grom does a 180 just because she had become pretty and for all of Nalia's insistence that Grom had misjudged her when they first met, she was still pretty bitchy even after Grom softens.

I read [b:Of Poseidon|12425532|Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1)|Anna Banks|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327879889s/12425532.jpg|17375535] before (as I normally do with books with prequels and novellas) and the Nalia of this book is nothing like the Nalia that Grom and Galen recount to Emma. I don't recall her ever being so hot headed in of Poseidon and while this wouldn't really be a problem normally, (I can stand a character who wants everything to go his or her way) she has these moments where she is sweet and loving but only when she feels like. This above all made her seem extremely selfish which is why I disliked her so much.

Besides the strange characterizations, the ending of this story was disappointing as well. Again, I don't remember Grom and Nalia's relationship being described as short as it was in this book and though I was expecting the

scene and its aftermath, it also felt short and glossed over. And then in the aftermath where Nalia's father rages at the Triton family, I didn't feel passionate towards any side; I only felt mild annoyance at everyone there for not being more rational. I suppose that this could be attributed to the fact that they had just been struck by a tragedy, but still common sense people please.

Overall, while the premise of this story and all of its major points kept me interested, I was unimpressed by the pacing and portrayal of events in this novella. Furthermore, I was expecting more funnies like in Of Poseidon but alas, this book was just aggravating in general.

now that I've read book 1, I loved seeing the prestory told from a different perspective.

and to see these characters before I know them later. What a different perspective!

I was enjoying this until the ending. It didn’t make sense. What was the point of all of this?
(I did some digging and this turned out to be a prequel to a series. Nalia doesn’t actually die and she’s found later during the series where she hid and reproduced her own children, believing that Grom has been dead all this time)
