Quindi.. MARATONA!!!!!
(27/05 --> 03/06) The Knife of Never Letting Go ★★★
(04/06 --> 11/06) The Ask and the Answer ★★★★
Todd e Viola.. Mayor/President Prentiss e Mistress Coyle..
(14/06 --> 09/07) Monsters of Men ★★★★★

Ancora mi vengono i brividi.. The Ask and the Answer ★★★★

these were the books that got me into reading in the first place. It was an emotional rollercoaster and very sad in places but I loved it. I feel these are the type of books to not get enough attention and it's sad to see. I wish it got more publicity and more people took the time to read these books.
10/10 for me couldn't beat it.

I really enjoyed this trilogy, more so than any other YA series I've read (which admittedly is not that many).
I found the relationship dynamics to be such a refreshing change. There is no love triangle, which is enough to win me over right there. I know some people think Ness created a love triangle with Lee, but a love triangle requires the girl to feel conflict over the two boys (or vice versa), and Viola was refreshingly loyal. Her relationship with Todd was realistic in its scope and development, and the balance of "power" was even, which was also a nice change. I just really liked the dynamic between them and felt the whole thing to be an awesome change from the sexually charged, obsessively quick, bizarre, controlling relationships I've seen in a lot of YA.Thank goodness for a heroin with a brain and courage who is not manipulated by a million outside sources.
I also loved the whole idea, the planet, the spackle, the noise. It was original, interesting, brought up a million moral questions, and kept the sorry moving. I adored hearing the animals and I think they were such an amazing addition to the story. Wilf, Lee, the horses, Manchee, Ben, even Davy in book 2, were all great characters. I just found myself so emotionally attached to pretty much everyone. There were even moments I felt for the Mayor. Ness did a great job with emotionally connecting the reader and taking us on the same journey they went on.
If I had any criticism it would be that the third book dragged a little, though I'm not sure how it could be cut. Also, by the time I was through with book three the inconsistent misspellings were starting to stick out more and more. I think the second book was my favorite. All in all, great series.

Did not finish at 50%.
Frustration and irritation with characters and plot increased with every new chapter.
I recognize the quality of writing and the themes appealed to me, but these books are not for me.
That being said, I'm not going to rate this.

There's no better feeling than when you finish a book and you no you have a favourite in your hands. I enjoyed these books immensely. As soon as I finished it I felt more motivated to read more fantasy type genres. I felt more brave, and it's all down to this.
It flowed easily and surprisingly I read this quite quickly, the story just hooked me in and I couldn't put it down. The general idea of the story is effectively simple. A boy lives in a town of men and no women. A town where all men can hear the thoughts of one another, including the thoughts of animals. The story goes further, delves into things that I wasn't expecting, it had some of the most powerful themes of humanity, friendship, identity, violence and war.
Patrick Ness doesn't just write characters, he gives them a voice. Todd has a very specific way of speaking with certain words spelled differently giving this character an accent. Ness continues this and doesn't lose touch of it despite the growing development of Todd's character, down to the very last book. Ness manages to differentiate each voice when the POV changes. Todd felt real, and his connections with other characters felt real. It read like a movie.

The first book was great, pulls the reader in. But by the third book, it felt like the author was just pushing words out and there was no flow, this ruined the series for me.
