I started Heart Knot Mine in trepidation because the first few pages were kinda dull, than I kinda got into it because the story reminded me of that movie with Cameron Diaz and that ET girl…Drew Barrymore! I knew I would remember her name. That movie was cute, so I thought ok I’m in for an ok read where I’m going to have to skim through pages just to find out what happens.
But then…
I got almost half way in when Noah lands in London, and OH-EM-GEE! I was glued. Let me just tell you, I didn’t read the blurb for the book. I mean I think I read it when I signed up for this tour, but let me tell you. I totally forgot what this book was about, I even forgot to read it until the day before my posting (which is why the review is late).
I would suggest not reading book blurbs and
just diving into books, that way you are totally surprised (if you like surprises).
Noah and Robert are both teachers and decide to house swap, and teach at their respective schools for a year. As Noah gets comfortable in Robert’s home, he decides to explore. Finding a mystery key on the keychain that Robert gave him, he searches high and low for the lock that the key goes to. He finally finds the lock and what’s behind the lock totally flabbergasted me, as well as Noah.
Robert had a collection of home porn movies. Noah was instantly intrigued. And it wasn’t long before he discovered why he has been so unhappy all these years’ it turns out Noah, the so called ladies man was really gay.
To make a long story short, he fell in love with Robert through his home movies. He takes being gay in stride, but coming out proves harder than he thinks to family and friends.
I absolutely loved Heart Knot Mine. The beginning was not that great, but once I got into it, I could not put it down for a second! Well, not until my Nook battery went out and I had to charge it. That was good timing since it was 2 in the morning.
The love story between Noah and Robert is heart breaking and so sweet, Noah takes to his lifestyle like..like a fish to water. I would recommend reading Heart Knot Mine and putting Lily Velden on your to be watched list.

A tricky one to review as I liked some parts more than others, but overall I enjoyed it, the writing was pacy and kept me mostly in the story, so went for the 3*.
It is written as a narrative by Noah, so not having any of Robert's view points made it hard to decide what type of person he was.
It was like a tale of 3 parts. In the first part, we have the job swap and Noah's voyage of discovery. Whilst his discovery of Robert's home movies and his trips to the 'spa & sauna' are hot, I didn't feel totally convinced.
Once the two men meet, Europe was a sexual delight, very hot, perhaps only marred by the use of most known alternate names for anus and semen. Even on their return to London, the love fest continued. However, with the day of reckoning approaching (Noah's return to the States), Noah laid his heart on the line - and boy did it go wrong!
The third part of the book was the best for me, maybe the writing seemed tighter or the story line was more real, dont now. It was more intense for Noah as he tried to get over loosing Robert, and telling his family that he is gay - both not easy to do. With not having Robert's pov at all, the ending felt a bit contrived - would love to have seen all his emails. And Noah and Mitch seemed to syill be hanging though Miranda is making overtures.
