"You have skill, dignity and posture. You have a good grasp of technique and you have mastered the bough, but you have not mastered your mind. You know how to shoot when all the circumstances are favorable, but if you are in dangerous ground, you cannot gut the target. The archer cannot always choose the battle field. So start your training again, and be prepared for unfavorable situations...but remember that a good, accurate shit is very different from one made with peace in your soul."

"The best allies are those who do not think like everyone else."

A lovely narrative, but sways awkwardly between self help and short story.

Note to self though, reading Paulo Coelho to start the new year is a must!

this is basically a self help book but i appreciated the art and the message.

Sang Pemanah
⭐5

This is a casual read. I finished reading this in 20 minutes! But, I will say that these were the best 20 minutes I spent reading a book. It's fantastic and mind you it's not a novel. It's a short illustrated book which uses archery as an analogy and describes how you should remain focused and determined to your target.
It's about Tetsuya, a man who teaches a young pupil about archery and then gives the meaning and how to live life.
The illustrations by Christoph Niemann, are adorable.
"Living without a connection between action and soul cannot fulfil, that a life constricted by a fear of rejection or failure is not a life worth living. Instead one must take risks, build courage, and embrace the unexpected journey fate has to offer"
Must Read and Highly Recommended for all age groups.

Individual Rating- 4/5

Be clear that this is not a novel; I’d call this a short fable perhaps, maybe a folktale.

The lesson unravels as a boy learns from an elder how to use a bow and arrow. Ultimately, this is a tale about living with intention and using that intention to avoid the vices and pitfalls that derail our success. Eventually, the path to success (and not success itself) should be enough to keep us from wandering astray (into self-pity or self-destruction). There’s also a lovely reference to the golden rule and respecting the paths others have tread before you.

I could see myself rereading this a few times a year as a reminder of its message. I’m sure, like many of his books, this is a controversial read, but if you take it for what it is, there’s a beautiful moral to be understood.
