Wow. This one sucked me in. I couldn’t put it down. Still not sure what to rate it to be honest. I’m not sure the bad guy was convincing- it wasn’t very realistic. But still has me thinking and reeling afterwards- so it made me feel and think. And that’s good, right?

This was an excellent thriller. I was hooked right away. Twin sisters Rose and Fern have not had an easy life. Their mother was abusive along with some boyfriends she brought into the young girl's lives. Rose knows she must protect Fern. Fern is vulnerable, she's highly functioning autistic. Even in the present as adults, Fern is very dependent on her sister.

Something horrific happened when they were young. A death, at Fern's hands. Rose helps Fern to cover it up and make it look like an accident.[this is in the opening chapter, so no spoiler] When the girls are young teens their mother suffers brain damage from an overdose. Rose is grateful their mother is out of their lives. Fern still visits their mother and has different memories of the kind of person their mother was.

When Fern discovers Rose is having trouble getting pregnant she sees it as an opportunity to repay her sister for everything she's done and still does for her. Fern will find a man, get pregnant, and give her baby to Rose. Fern has a chance now to be the good sister.

When Rose and Ferns mother starts a new therapy that is allowing her to speak she has a warning for Fern about Rose. It's confusing because she can't fully express herself but the intent is clear. Rose is dangerous. Fern is dumbfounded. Slowly things start not adding up. Is Rose really the good sister Fern always believed her to be?

Fern is so endearing and you'll be turning the pages after each revelation. This book was really so addictive. A must read thriller for 2021!!

A book with twists that let you into the mind of a woman with a disability and how family can impact our lives and choices we make.

This gave me Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine vibes, especially in the beginning. It also feels like a book that should be made into a Lifetime movie. It was a gripping, quick read and I enjoyed the main characters.

This was a quick read. I did enjoy the book even though it was very predictable.
