I content tagged moderate cultural appropriation because one of the POV characters is Chinese Australian and the author is … definitely not. And while I assume no harm was intended, I personally feel uncomfy about a white author writing a quirky primary hair-colored Asian protagonist that just drop 3 or 4 small references to her heritage and that’s it. It was very refreshing to read about Charlie’s & Jamie’s & Taylor’s friendship, Charlie becoming more comfy in her bisexuality and

branching out with a girl for the first time

,, and Taylor learning to navigate stressful environments while autistic. Several of Taylor’s moments hit me like a freight train in a good way. I just wish the author had not picked a heritage for Charlie she could not accurately flesh out. This book made my little nerdy anxiety-ridden queer heart so happy! Absolutely adorable. This takes place at a convention and I love that! It is absolutely adorable how geeky these characters are!  I also LOVE the two love stories in this! Absolutely, with all my heart, I ship them both so hard! So cute.  I think this book did an excellent job with its anxiety rep and I totally feel for Tay! She is such an amazing character! I also loved all the character growth that Charlie went through! Great book, highly recommend for a quick light read!

This book was so light and lovely!! The romance was so cute, and I’ll admit I cried happy tears at the end. I did feel like the writing was exposition-heavy and awkward at times. However, the story made up for it in the best ways possible, and all the characters of this book have a special place in my heart.

Except that asshole, Reese, of course.
