First re-read, first time listening.
I didn't realize how much I missed Vin, Kelsier, and Elend until I started this read through!

You have no idea how much I wanted to hate this.
This book was advertised to me as six of crows like - it should have been advertised as bridgerton but with magic and revolution. This is my first Brandon Sanderson book, and I enjoyed his writing style a lot more than I thought I would, and definitely want to read more of the series.

I had a lot of fun theorising about what might come up and what tiny bits of information given might imply.
The magic system is fleshed out and unlike most of the ones I've seen. While some parts of it might not seem new, the amalgam of metals in combination with the powers is fairly unique.
From all the characters I probably like Vin (one of the protagonists) the most.
The team that was gathered to accomplish the main goal of the book is good to. Some I like more than others (Dockson, Ham and Sazed, for instance).
The book didn't turn out like I imagined it to be:
Some major spoilers for Elantris and Mistborn ahead, proceed with caution (strikethrough to make it harder to read it unintentionally).
I was told that Elantris is a miniature version of Mistborn, so to speak. I read Elantris first and I expected Mistborn to be an epic fantasy, too.
And it somehow was, but mostly wasn't. The scope in Mistborn just feels different, despite being enormous. In Elantris, it felt bigger somehow.
I like theromance subplot a lot.
It is there, but it doesn't get on my nerves (awfully invested is the exact opposite). It also doesn't feel forceful at all, I appreciate that.
The story tends to feel a bit slower, despite the tackled topics. It was a pageturner nonetheless - a refreshing mix.
