I liked the idea of this, but I kept getting distracted by reality. All of those 'little things' that "wives" do for their families- it still feels like the labor is theirs, since you know it would often be the wife having to reach out to the app and find a person, get all of the paperwork and resources together, then check up on the work, and fix it if it wasn't done correctly. Also, the families that could use the help the most are still those who could afford it the least, sliding scale or not, and exploitation of gig workers is never resolved- so I just couldn't get on board with the way that poor people are sort of... ignored for being an inconvenient part of reality.

This was quite an entertaining read! I loved the overall premise of the book and thought it was rather original.
This book is about three friends who come up with a new app, The Wife App. The idea behind the app is that it would allow wives to hire someone to do all the tedious tasks for them that wives typically do without getting paid.
I loved the sisterhood between these three women showcased throughout the book. Even though they all had a lot going on in their personal lives, they really were there for each other through it all, which was nice to see.
Even though there were a lot of heavier topics covered in this story, there was enough humor there to help balance it out.
Thank you to @simonbooks for the gifted copy of the book.
idk nothing special to me but i loved the idea of the app

Thanks to Simon Books for this #FreeGift arc in exchange for a fair review!
This book was just fine — I gotta admit, I thought it was going to be a little more queer, so my first impression was slight disappointment that I was reading yet another straight romance-adjacent novel. I also wasn't a huge fan of the main characters until they started to grow on me about halfway through. On the whole, I thought the writing could use another editing pass to sharpen and elevate the prose — it currently reads closer to a YA style, which makes sense given Mackler's work in the genre. I will say, though, that I really related to a lot of the conversations our main characters had related to mental load, so if that's a topic you're into, you might like this quick read!
