I loved this book, it is right up my alley. The sweet love story with a little angst is perfect. Cassidy has been left 2 days before her wedding and a year later is not over it. Her ex is an actor who up and leaves with no explanation. Jase is an actor who would like to become familiar with his next role and comes to stay on Cassidy's ranch to acquaint himself with ranch life. Little did they know how much they would have in common...starting with knowing Cassidy's ex! This fun love story brings us through life decisions, getting to know each other, overcoming obstacles and falling in love. Jase and Cassidy's story is heartwarming and you can't help but love them both. Would have loved a cupcake while listening to it! I am looking forward to book 2.
Stacey Glemboski did a great job with this performance. This is the first book I have listened to her narrate and found her voice warm and enjoyable for all characters.
--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I was sent an ARC of Cupcakes and Cowboys by Lindzee Armstrong for my honest opinion. First off, being from West Virginia and loving to bake, I instantly fell in love with the name of the book. I mean who doesn't love cowboys and who doesn't love cupcakes? As I read the book, I fell in love with the story and the characters, too. A small town girl is left at the altar by her Hollywood star fiancee. When a hot, new Hollywood star comes to her ranch to do research for his latest part, Cassidy must decide if she can let go of the past and let someone in, or if her ex-fiancee has scarred her for life when it comes to dating actors. Yet another great, clean read by Lindzee.

I admired Cassie's determination to move on after the betrayal of the past.
Living in a small town means everybody knows your business but it also means you have a support system.
I liked the fact her friends stood by her (even while they swooned over Jase ).
Jess wasn't very likeable at first. He was the typical spoiled star and made stupid assumptions about Cassie.
I enjoyed seeing him learn what country living really entails: its hard work and determination.
Soon after finding out the reason for Cassie's behavior, we saw a nicer side of Jess, not just the actor, but the person. The man who sometimes wishes for a different lifestyle.
The romance between them was sweet and not sexual and developed too soon.
I think the book should have been longer to show us how Jess and Cassie adjust to being a couple, with all the differences (professional and personal).
But overall ,a nice ,sweet story.

Cassidy had good reason to hate actors. And when one appeared in her home, she had extra cause to despise Jase. But he had a heart of gold and the two of them were so well matched together. I really enjoyed this story. It was short and sweet and a really good read.

Cassidy gave up all of her dreams to support her fiancé in the pursuit of his dreams. But despite her sacrifices he still abandoned her at the alter with a mountain of debt and ran off to pursue a career in Hollywood. Now after a year she just manages to scrape by with her bakery but she is doing what she loves most.
When Jase turns up at her parent's ranch to research his next film role, it cuts a little too close. Over time she realizes he is nothing like her ex and makes the first hesitant steps towards healing her broken heart, but Jase's time in Oklahoma is all too short and before long he will need to return to Hollywood leaving her once again alone.
Cupcakes and Cowboys (despite the title which kind of makes me cringe) is a short and sweet contemporary romance. No bad language and no sex....honestly it seems quite christian, but somehow manages to pull it off without preaching at me which is always a plus. All in all a satisfying and life affirming novella.

This is my first time reading anything by this author, and I have to say that it was a good introduction to her writing style. That being said, I found that this story was too short and ended too abruptly for my tastes! I was able to easily connect with Cassidy and Jase, and I really felt invested in their romance. I really loved Jase's desire for a simpler life! There was a logical conflict and obstacles for both of them to overcome, but I did really enjoy their story overall. I will definitely continue with the series!
