Loved the concept of the story but felt it was too wordy.

The writing is intelligent and immersive, and Ebbott has a gift for capturing the unspoken dynamics that simmer between people over time. While reading, I was completely captivated by the story, wanting to know more about characters’ pasts, motivations, fears, and depth.
That said, the shifting timeline/POVs made it a bit difficult to stay grounded in the story at times. I occasionally found myself flipping back to piece together the sequence of events, which interrupted the reading experience at times just when I was getting pulled in.
Thoughtful, complex, and full of raw moments—this one continues to question: the lives of the rich, their complex pasts and undertones of evil behavior rooted in power, and the trust between friends. The lack of a trigger warning was also a problem, but otherwise a fantastic debut.

It is always strange to find a part of yourself that you keep quiet within the stories of another. As a victim of sexual assault I found that Hal Ebbott was able to take my heat and the fears that lay there and print them on paper. Yet I did not just find myself identifying with Anna. In each character I could see prices of myself and the people o lay become in the future. The book was not perfect, but the writing gave light to a beautiful story, each character grew, even in wayside you didn’t want them too. No one in this story was pure good nor pure evil. Everyone stands in the space between. Yet still the beautiful relationships this book showcases gives the reader belief that maybe someday the world could be as black and white as good and evil.
