the fact that a man sexual assault his best friends teen daughter and then the girls mother immediately says she is lying? And absolutely no consequences? Only reason it’s not a 1 star is because Anna’s part was well done. And her father standing up for against his best friend and giving her a voice when asked? I did think that was well done. Claire and Retsy dismissal of Anna because they didn’t want their lives to change was disgusting

Intoxicating and insidious, “Among Friends” casts a spell of simmering, relentless tension, bringing power and group dynamics to a head. The prose could be considered overwritten at times, but it really felt like I was physically inside of each scene with these characters, holding my breath.
